I created this questionnaire and gave it to my class at college to complete. My class consists of 11 females and 7 males, most of them at the age of 16 in full time education. This means that the majority of the individuals who filled out my questionnaire are within my target audience. However I have to consider that as these people are students most of them will not have any source of income therefore will not have a lot of spare money to spend on magazines, therefore my magazine should not be within an appropriate price range.

By reviewing my magazine survey results I found out what my target audience like, dislike and what they prefer to see inside a music magazine. I have found from the surveys filled by a selection of members within my target audience (female aged between 11-20) that they prefer the music genres Pop, rap and R&B. I also found out why they like to listen to this music genre, getting answers such as ‘it makes me happy’ and ‘puts me in a good mood’ therefore the magazine I create should be in a design which connoted happiness and articles that are joyful too, to resemble the target audience and the music genre of the magazine. I also asked the question ‘What magazines do you already read?’ and with the answers given I was able to see what these certain magazine provide inside their magazines and take inspiration from them. The most popular music magazine i found which my target audience already read are NME and We Love Pop. Both these magazines use a vary of images that appeal to their target audience which show the subject in their images looking happy and showing a positive representation of them. I also found how they listen to their music and how they download it, this means I know what multimedia links to include inside that magazine that will appeal to them and they will be interested in. I also learned by asking these specific two questions which way would be best to advertise my magazine to its target audience as when asked 'How do you listen to music?' the most popular answers were internet, radio, iPod or phone this means these would be a good way to advertise the magazine.

I have used the information I have found by doing this survey to influence what I do my music magazine on and what I will include inside it. I have now chosen the genre of my magazine to be Chart music as this is the genre which was most popular within my questionnaire therefore is more likely to appeal to my target audience and be more successful with them. It has also influenced what content I will put inside my magazine including what I will base my main feature on and what to include on the front cover to attract them, such as their favourite artists as if they see them on the front and recognise these artist who they may look up to and be fans of they will more than likely want to know what is happening in their life and why they are featured in the magazine.
