Magazine Preparation Task

I have chosen to make a pop magazine as it is what I listen to. I know a lot about the genre and the artist it involves. It will appeal to the audience as the artists they like
and look up to will be fetured in the magazine.
I will include a front cover, contents page and a two page spread which features popular artists that the target audience will know and be interested in.
I will have a vast amount of images throught the magazine with the artists talked about representing them as happy charicters to match their music and the pop genre and giving the magazine connotations of happiness. I will get these images from conserts I have been to and by taking images of myself and friends posing as artists. The images will feature a lot of bright colours and will generally fill the pages as this will appeal more to my younger target audience.
My target audience will be female teens aged 12-18 in section D on the audience code.
My magazine will be origional as all of the images will be my own plus all of the stories, I will also include new artists which I think would appeal to the target audience.
My main artice will be about the new popular artist on the music scene including an interview with the artist where she tells us how she feels about this new lifestyle and how her life has changed, inside stories and a lot of images sprawled across the double page spread.
I will ensure that my magazine looks perfessional by researching other music magazines of the same genre that are already on the market and have been successful. Seeing their layout of pages and types of images they have used could help inspire me and influence how I make my pages look. From the font styles I should be using and colour schemes to the types of shots I should use and style of the celebrities when taking my images.
The name of my magazine will be Tune as it is short, modern and catchy, corresponds with the music theme and will appeal to the target audience.

College Magazine Summary

By considering other college magazies and the audience of them I had a basic ideas of what I wanted to include within my magazine from the layout to the text inside. I wanted to use bright and bold colours which would attract the young target audience but would also correspond with the colleges colours. Therefore I chose to use the main colour with in the colour scheme as blue as that is also the colour fetured on the Sunderland College logo. I used a vary of images withing the magazine of the pupils that go to the college, this will appeal to them as it will connect with them. I have choosen these images specifically as they make the college look enjoyable yet educational, for instance the main image on the cover is of two people one on the computer but head turned to the camera lens smiling and the other looking at the book he is going to be reading giving off the impressions wanted. I also chose appropriate articles to be featured within th magazine that would appeal to the target audience such as ‘Upcoming Trips’ and ‘Courses’ aswell as the main article ‘New Library’. I have made the magazine easy to navigate around by the layout of the contents page. I used basic language so that the text is understandable to all of the target audience.

What to look for in a college magazine

A College magazine should suit its primary audience of the students and their parents. The magazine should be bright and colourful to attract this audience using colours such as yellow, red and blues. The font should also be bold and simple to make it easy to read.

Inside of the magazine the information has to be entertaining for the audinece. The text should contain a lot of fun information about the college and the pupils to make the magazine appeal to them. The magazine should be packed with images of the students with joyful faces giving the connotation the students at the school are happy to be there and . There should also be a contense page to make it easy for the audience to read the magazine and the sections thay want. The bright colours should also be continued inside the magazine backed up by the colourful images of students to keep the theme fun and entertaining. The language used inside the magazine should be informal and simple to read with not many advanced words as some of the target audience may not be as advanced readers.

The magazine should be free since the target audience includes students who don't have much money so would not be able to afford it otherwise. If the magazine accomplishes all of these points it will be a success.
